Edna is a Consultant for CaRE Arthritis.
Edna graduated from The Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing, Edmonton, Alberta, in 1979 and began her career on a Surgical Urology Unit in a tertiary care hospital.
Since 1989 she has worked at the University of Alberta Hospital as a Research Nurse / Clinical Trials Coordinator. She has past experience in Phase I/II, II and III clinical trials in the fields of Urology, Neurology and Infectious Diseases, as well as Phase I/IV trials conducted primarily in the geriatric population. Edna has also done some work as a Clinical Trials Monitor.
In 1995 Edna began working for the Division of Rheumatology, responsible for all aspects of the Phase I/II, II, III and IV clinical trials that have encompassed Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Axial Spondyloarthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis and most recently Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. Several of these trials have included a Health Economic component. She has co-authored several abstracts and publications.
Edna has had a longstanding interest in Protocol Review, Case Report Form design and Electronic Data Capture systems, the latter leading to an interview with Business Week Magazine in December 2000. She is a member of The College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) and The Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA), and is a Canadian Rheumatology Research Consortium (CRRC) Member Coordinator, participating in protocol reviews and budget negotiations.
